The Barrow Group invites multiple internships throughout the year in all aspects of our organization’s operations. Internships are unpaid. We offer tickets to all of our main stage and studio theatre performances and inclusion in all events and activities lead by TBG. Housing cannot be provided. Part time (20 hours/week min) applicants only.
All internships provide the intern with the opportunity to get to know the department head, as well as the entire TBG staff and various theater artists. To apply, select the internship below and follow the submission instructions provided.

Youth Summer Education Interns:

The youth summer education interns play an integral role in our youth summer camps and intensives. These internships run between 1-8 weeks, mid June thru mid August. A stipend is provided.
The intern works closely with our Education Director, Education Team, and faculty to coordinate and assist with summer youth programming.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Work in the classroom alongside TBG teachers in our kids, tween, and teen camps/intensives
- Assisting with daily check in/check out of students and interfacing with parents
- Production support for culminating showings; sourcing props, materials, light stage managing, etc.
- Liason with parents/caregivers to complete student information forms, drop off, pick up
- Prepare Extended Day activities for students
- Responsible for ensuring student snacks are prepared each day
The ideal candidate has an interest in learning more about theatre education programming/activities and has experience working with kids, tweens, and/or teens. The intern should have excellent communication and organizational skills.

The Education Intern will work directing with TBG’s Education DIrector by assisting with all school related projects and events.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assisting with organization of each semester’s class schedule
- Assisting with administrative tasks such as answering emails, making photo copies, returning phone calls, marketing school events, and research
- Finding plays, scenes/monologues for kids, tween, teen, and beginner classes
- Organizing teacher binders and supplemental materials
- Scheduling audits
- Assisting with on-site school events such as Youth Open Houses, Fridays@TBG, and all Festivals
The Ideal Candidate is interested in theater education, has great attention to detail, has excellent organization and communication skills. Internships runs for up to 12 weeks and hours can be adjusted to suite the intern.
School Production Intern

Interns will assist with the research into potential funders and develop proposal language and assist with grant writing and submissions. Interns assist in planning and execution of Barrow Group events, including Opening nights, Patron events, fundraising events, and have the opportunity to work on mail campaigns, donor research, and data entry. This position requires excellent communication skills, self-motivation, and an interest in learning about the creative thinking that goes behind fundraising from foundations, corporations, and government agencies. DEVELOPMENT INTERN Responsibilities include supporting all areas of TBG’s fundraising efforts, with emphasis on individual giving. Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to:
- Coordinate mail campaigns for events and fundraising
- Research prospective individual and institutional funders
- Maintain development files
- Carry out other special projects as needed, including direct assistance to the director of development
- Work on special events with premium volunteer opportunities for the annual gala and opening night performances and parties.
- Volunteer coordination and management
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; Experience in the field will be taken into consideration. Candidates must be detail-oriented with strong writing and communication skills. He/she must be poised and sophisticated over the phone and in person as he/she will regularly speak with donors. The ideal candidate is able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and is interested in fundraising or not-for-profit management. Experience with internet research applications and mail merges a plus.

The marketing intern will assist with the creation of marketing and institutional materials for our production season as well as internal programs and events.
Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to:
- Assisting with the design of marketing materials for production, development, and school projects
- Management of social media posts for productions and school events
- Preparing web images and design assets based on art direction
- Assisting with conceptualizing and creating in-venue displays
- Assisting on various projects including digital marquees, souvenir programs and events
- Assist with projects related to advertising and mailings
Interns will also assist with pre- and post- show marketing activities:
- Sales reporting
- Pre- and post- show events
- Maintaining press files and advertising files
- Coordinating outreach for show campaigns
Ideal Marketing Intern candidates will have a college degree in marketing, graphic design or other pertinent studies. Experience with HootSuite, MailChimp, Ovationtix, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite also strongly preferred.

Administrative:
Administrative production intern will assist with the TBG season and union negotiations. Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to:
- Maintaining artist contracts
- Drafting correspondence with agents, unions, and other collaborators
- Answering and redirecting phone calls/emails
- Tracking ticket sales and industry trends, and other special projects
The intern will assist in the general management activities of the producing season and the business operations of the organization including maintaining contractual union obligations, box office, front of house management and other tasks related to current and upcoming productions.
The ideal candidate would have excellent organizational and communication skills, great attention to detail, and basic computer skills.
Technical:
The Production Management intern reports directly to the Producing Director. The intern will assist the Production Department in day to day operations of the production office including, but not limited to:
- Researching technical aspects of each production
- Payroll tracking
- Budget tracking
- Pre-production scheduling and supporting rehearsals as needed.
