School Auditions

The following courses require an audition/interview for admission:
·  Scene Study Intensive 1
·  Monologue Workshop
·  2-Year Program
·  Summer Acting 6-week Program

The Barrow Group Acting School holds auditions every Wednesday from 2-3 pm and by special appointment.  To audition for The Barrow Group Acting School, email Robert Serrell, Director of Education, at school@barrowgroup.org to request a time.  Please prepare a 1 minute contemporary monologue of your choice and provide your headshot and resume.

If you are not in New York City and would still like to audition, we accept taped submissions. Please upload your video audition to YouTube and send us a link.

School Policies

Auditing
Those interested in studying at The Barrow Group are welcome to audit the Wednesday evening Scene Study Class with Seth Barrish.  Please email school@barrowgroup.org if you’d like to audit.

General
•  There are many people that would like to be a part of the Barrow Group Acting School classes, so please do your best to be on time and be memorized and prepared to work.
•  We feel very strongly that the best way to learn is by doing.

Fees
•  All payments are non-refundable.
•  Full payment or a deposit of 50% is required in advance in order to secure your spot in a class. The remaining balance is due before the first day of class.

Excused absences
•  Class attendance is of the highest importance and so excused absences can be granted for illness, acting work, and family emergencies.
•  Robert Serrell, the Director of Education, MUST be notified in advance in order to receive an excused absence. Failure to notify us of an absence prior to class will result in an unexcused absence that cannot be made up.
•  Monetary credit or refunds for missed classes will not be given.
•  Excused absences are for Scene Study Intensive classes only and do not apply to any other classes (e.g., Ongoing, Script Analysis, Film & TV, etc).
•  Makeup Classes expire after one year.

School Rehearsal Space
•  Our studios are available at a discounted rate for our students for rehearsal for class. Any work not related to class will receive the standard rate.
•  The rate for any school-related work is $15/hr. Minimum rental is 1 hour (no half hours).
•  If you or someone you know is interested in long-term rental or a large number of hours, special rates may apply. To reserve time for the Studio Theatre or the Main Stage 99-seat theatre, please call Porter Pickard, Facilities Director, at (212) 760-2615 or email studios@barrowgroup.org.
•  Rental fees are to be paid in advance. We request you pay cash for student rentals.
•  If you must cancel rehearsal space, do so at least 24 hours in advance or you will be responsible for the rental fee.

Casting for School Productions and The Reading Series

The Barrow Group Acting School produces student shows throughout the year.  To be considered, students must complete the Scene Study 1 and Scene Study 2 Intensives.

To apply to direct a Barrow Group Acting School Production, directors must have taken the Directing 1 and 2 workshops with Seth Barrish.
