4/2 First Fridays

Friday, April 2
Works In Progress
Theme: Deception
Guest Host: Colin Hinckley

We are looking for scripts-in-progress with an element of deception:
-Stories where someone is not what they appear…
-Stories where a prank/joke gets out of hand…
-Stories where someone is made to look foolish…
-Stories where someone receives an unwelcome surprise…

For Works in Progress, writers are pre-selected to share up to 10 pages of their script-in-progress in front of an audience. Actors will be cast on the spot at 6pm EST (no advanced casting allowed) and the readings will begin at 7pm EST.

Want to get involved?

Writers: To participate, email your submission (up to 10 pages) of your script in progress to firstfridays@barrowgroup.org. For this edition of First Fridays, we are accepting submissions that feature the theme of “deception.” Deadline to submit is Friday, March 26 at 5pm EST. Writers will be notified if selected by March 30.

Actors: To participate, reserve your free ticket and login to the event at 6pm EST on April 2. For the event, we ask that actors join the Zoom session in a quiet place.

Audience: If you’d like to watch the readings, reserve your free ticket and login to the event at 7pm EST.

More about our guest host: Colin Hinckley is an actor and writer, currently based in Dummerston, Vermont. He has appeared in countless productions in NYC and Vermont. His short film Buy In, which he co-wrote and starred in, recently finished its festival run where it racked up numerous awards and nominations. He’ll be next appearing in the original play Food & Shelter written by Sean Hurley and directed by David Stern, premiering January 2022. He’s very excited to be working with the Barrow Group again, his New York City home.
