Student Sharings

Student Sharings at The Barrow Group are an essential part of our training and community life. These events offer students the opportunity to share their work in a supportive, welcoming environment—focusing on storytelling and connection rather than perfection.

Sharings are not auditions or formal productions. They are moments of discovery, celebration, and learning—where students practice bringing their work into the room and audiences are invited to witness the creative process as it unfolds.

One-Year Program Sharings

At the culmination of The Barrow Group’s One-Year Programs, students participate in a public showcase that reflects the work they have been developing throughout the year.

These showcases highlight:

  • Honest, spontaneous storytelling
  • Craft grounded in reality and presence
  • Ensemble collaboration and generosity
  • A wide range of voices, styles, and lived experiences

For many students, this is a meaningful milestone—an opportunity to step into their work with confidence and share it with friends, family, and the broader TBG community.

Playwright Festivals

The Barrow Group’s Playwright Festivals celebrate new work by emerging and established writers in our community. Featuring staged readings and sharings, these festivals offer playwrights the chance to hear their work aloud and in front of an audience—often for the first time.

Playwright Festivals emphasize:

  • Story first
  • Exploration over polish
  • Collaboration between writers, actors, and directors
  • A generous, curiosity-driven audience experience

These events reflect TBG’s longstanding commitment to developing new voices and meaningful stories.

Kids & Youth Sharings

Our Kids and Youth Sharings are joyful celebrations of creativity, imagination, and confidence. Designed to be age-appropriate and supportive, these sharings give young performers the chance to share what they’ve been working on in a relaxed, encouraging environment.

Kids & Youth Sharings focus on:

  • Creative expression and play
  • Building confidence and communication skills
  • Collaboration and listening
  • Experiencing the joy of storytelling

Families and friends are invited to witness the growth, bravery, and creativity of our young artists.

A Shared Experience

At every level, Student Sharings reflect what makes The Barrow Group unique: kindness, accessibility, and a deep respect for the creative process. They are opportunities for students to be seen, for audiences to connect, and for our community to gather around honest, human storytelling.
