When will new classes be listed?
We typically list classes about 2-3 months before the start of the first class, or by the time all the classes in the term prior have fully started. You can view all of our upcoming class schedules on our website here .
What is your refund policy?
Our policy allows students to cancel a class and receive a credit or a transfer if it’s at least one week before the start date of the class. You can reach out to help@barrowgroup.org to cancel. We do not offer refunds of any kind.
Do you offer the ESL Beginner Classes?
We are not currently offering the ESL Beginner Classes. We hope to have this on our schedule again soon depending on instructor availability. In the meantime, you are welcome to join the Beginner I: The Basics Class. While this class does not focus specifically on diction and pronunciation tools, the acting tools explore tools for compelling communication and script analysis skills. There are many ESL students who take the Beginner I Classes.
Do you offer private coaching for actors?
The Barrow Group doesn’t offer private coaching, but you are welcome to reach out to any of our teaching artists to set up a private coaching session. Rates and availability will vary.
Does TBG accept international students and provide student visas?
Yes, we do accept international students in our shorter 10-week classes, or longer 10-month programs. Since The Barrow Group is not an accredited school, students are required to obtain their own visas. We are happy to provide documentation proving enrollment or acceptance into a program if needed.

I’m a beginner actor. What should I do? OR I’ve taken classes at another acting studio, can I skip a level?
All students new to The Barrow Group start with the first level of each track that we offer (Beginner, Intermediate, and Professional.) Once students complete the first level of whichever track they are in, they are welcome to progress through the track in order or audition to move to a more advanced track. The Beginner I class is designed for the beginning / amateur adult actor. This class is a great introduction to the Barrow Group approach and foundation for the craft. The class highlights quick and powerful ways to make your performance more natural and spontaneous. Students will work with ensemble-building games, script analysis, and scene study. No experience is necessary. If you are interested in intermediate or professional-level classes, please sign up for an audition here. For Intermediate Scene Study I, you are also welcome to submit a video audition of a 1-minute contemporary monologue to info@barrowgroup.org. You can view ALL of our upcoming schedules on our website here.
I am an experienced actor. Where should I start and can I skip a level?
Any student new to The Barrow Group begins with the first level of the track for which they are approved, due to the specific language surrounding this particular approach.Based on your mentioned experience, the best step would be to sign up for an audition to be considered for professional-level classes at TBG. Alternatively, for Intermediate Scene Study I, you are also welcome to submit a video audition of a 1-minute contemporary monologue to info@barrowgroup.org. The audition page is updated frequently, so if you’re still looking for an available time that works for you, check back soon for updates. You can view our upcoming class schedules on our website here.
When can I find new audition times?
You can view new upcoming audition times on our website here. Make sure to scroll down to view all upcoming opportunities. If you don’t see a time that works for you, we update the audition schedule every Monday for the following week.
How does the waitlist work?
You will not be charged if you do not agree to register for the class if a spot opens up. We collect a payment method to more efficiently register you if you do take the spot. We will contact you right away if a spot on the waitlist opens up. If a spot opens up in the 48 hours before the class starts, we will contact everyone on the waitlist, and it will be first-come, first-served.
How do I submit for the Musical Theatre Workshop?
To be considered for the Professional Musical Theatre Workshop at TBG, you can submit a video audition of you singing a musical theatre song. This can accompanied by a track or a piano, or you’re welcome to sing it a cappella. Please send this via WeTransfer, YouTube or Vimeo to info@barrowgroup.org
