Stories bring us together. With your help, we’re proud to produce theatre, like our recent Lost…Found and Triptych, that unites people and reminds us of our shared human experience.
“When I tell my fellow playwrights how Triptych happened, they give me a funny look. Like they don’t quite believe me. I understand. The story is so improbable it feels like I’m lying. But it’s all true.
The Barrow Group asked to produce my play after a single unrehearsed reading in front of seven people on a rainy Friday afternoon.
The actors in our production – who left audiences gasping, howling with laughter, crying, and leaping to their feet at the end – and director were as generous and kind as they are talented. The producers were supportive every second of the way. I never had a cross word with any of them.
Sounds made up, right?
If the show were done any place other than at Barrow Group I think you’d have to assume I was lying. But it’s all true.”
– John Yearley, Playwright and TBG Instructor
“TBG has been my artistic home for the past 25 years. I would not be the actor, writer, director, and teacher I am today without Seth and Lee’s unwavering love, support, and encouragement, along with the hundreds of angels who have walked through TBG’s doors.
Writing, rehearsing, and performing my solo show Lost…Found on The Barrow Group stage – and then taking it overseas to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival – was an absolute dream come true. I’ve never felt so safe and fearless as an artist. The experience completely changed my life and touched hundreds of people.
This transformative journey was made possible by the incredible support of TBG’s donor community. Their generosity brings stories to life and fuels the heart of The Barrow Group, making magic happen every day.
As Thomas Merton once said, “Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” I’ve found myself again and again at The Barrow Group, and I know the best is yet to come.”
