Staff Spotlight: Melissa Parker Caron

Doug GoldringCommunity

We’d love to introduce you to one of our incredible TBG staff members, Melissa Parker Caron! Read our interview with her below…

What do you enjoy most about working at TBG?

MPC: Hello!! I am so happy to now be a more integral part of The Barrow Group, coming on as the new development manager. Being a part of this community for the past few years has been encouraging and inspiring, and I really feel like I have a place to call my artistic home.

This is such a special community of artists from all kinds of backgrounds who seemingly all really want each other to succeed. Sitting in the lounge, walking the halls, attending scene sharings, overhearing others rehearsing or talking about upcoming projects… It’s all so exhilarating to be around, and I LOVE to hear everyone’s stories.

What is your favorite class you’ve taken at TBG?

MPC: I’ve taken a few courses here, but being part of the 1-Year Professional Acting Program was forever life-changing for me. Specifically, working with Seth and Lee, and the joy of letting it go, letting the words speak for themselves, and learning to listen. Translating Shakespeare with Seth was so fun, and I feel like I really grokked the poetic language for the first time.

What is a project that you’ve been a part of that you are proud of?

MPC: Currently, I’m working on developing a couple of short films with one of my closest friends Tania Zhelieznikova, (whom I met in the 1-Year Program,) I’ll be performing in The New York Theater Festival (in 6 Yes’s 1 No, written by Paul Pallotta, another Barrow Group student and friend of mine,) you can catch me on stage performing improv with my family in KidProv, or with Redshirts, (the only all-women Star Trek: The Next Generation-themed musical improv team in the known universe.)

And I’ll be busy organizing all kinds of upcoming events for our beautiful community and donors. If you see me, say hi! Tell me your story!

To take one of Melissa’s favorite classes, try 1-Year Programs! The next options are the daytime and evening sections of the 1-Year Intermediate Acting Program starting in January.  Applications are open!
