Theme: Women and Femme Writers

For Works in Progress, writers are pre-selected to share up to 10 pages of their script-in-progress in front of an audience. Actors will be cast on the spot at 6pm EST (no advanced casting allowed) and the readings will begin at 7pm EST.

Writers: To participate, email your submission (up to 10 pages) of your script in progress to firstfridays@barrowgroup.org. In honor of Women’s History Month, we are looking for works in progress written by:
– Women
– Transwomen
– Non-Binary Femme
– Anyone who identifies on the spectrum of femininity
Deadline to submit is Friday, February 26 at 5pm EST. Writers will be notified if selected by Wednesday, March 3.

Actors: To participate, reserve your free ticket and login to the event at 6pm EST on March 5. For the event, we ask that actors join the Zoom session in a quiet place.

Audience: If you’d like to watch the readings, reserve your free ticket and login to the event at 7pm EST.

More about our guest host: Arielle Beth Klein is a Brooklyn-based actor/writer. As an actor, she’s performed off-broadway and regionally. Select credits include: New Yiddish Rep’s Drama-Desk-nominated production of Death of a Salesman in Yiddish, The Theater at Woodshill’s Hamlet (Ophelia), the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene’s staged reading of The Wall (Rutka) and Saratoga Shakespeare Company’s touring youth production of Much Ado about Nothing (Beatrice). Arielle holds a degree in Early Childhood (Special) Education from University of Delaware. She’s been training at The Barrow Group since 2015.
