Short Film Creation Workshop
At Hand: Creative Immersion via No-Budget Filmmaking
An encouraging, demanding, and nurturing ten weeks that overrides our inner critics and allows us to make weird, wonderful, true, and - most importantly - finished things.The class prioritizes play, collaboration, and tight deadlines.
Class Mantras: Quantity leads to quality. Better to be done than good. Learning through finishing.
Our goal is creative momentum. By the end, you’ll have a stack of imperfect but finished work and a thorough understanding of how to bring an idea to life: dreaming, scripting, shooting, editing, screening. Each participant will make about 8 films over the ten week course. In this process, participants will learn: writing, giving anf receiving feedback, scripting, shot listing, pre-production, lighting, camera work, sound recording, editing/post production. It is a lot of work, and a lot of reward.
This class meets twice a week for ten weeks. Students should expect to shoot and edit about a film a week outside of class time. The class culminates with a premiere screening of the participants’ short films.
All skill levels/experiences welcomed.
