Our Scene Study classes are the heart of the Barrow Group training program. These classes are an ordered progression, in which script analysis, The Barrow Group Acting approach and tools are introduced and explored. As students progress through the levels, focus shifts to self assessment and self adjustment. Please note, these are not beginning acting classes, and require an audition or submission. Intermediate Scene Study I: Introduction to an Approach
Prerequisite: Students must audition in-person or submit a video audition.
This class is designed to introduce actors with previous training and experience to The Barrow Group approach and tools. The first class is devoted to exercises that introduce The Barrow Group approach, followed by two classes in script analysis. In the remaining classes students will explore The Barrow Group acting tools via scene study. Students will select scene partners and scenes of their choice to work on in class.
Intermediate Scene Study II: Exploring the Tools
Pre-requisite: Intermediate Scene Study I: Introduction to an Approach
This class continues the exploration of The Barrow Group approach and tools via scene study. Students will work on multiple scenes of their choice with a partner.
Intermediate Scene Study III: Self Assessment
Prerequisites: Intermediate Scene Study II
Students should prepare a scene for the first day of class.
In this class, students continue to explore The Barrow Group acting tools via scene study. Intermediate Scene Study III: Film/TV
Prerequisite: Students must have completed Intermediate Scene Study II: Exploring the Tools.
