For our MainStage and Studio readings, The Barrow Group uses actors who have completed Scene Study II and directors who have completed Directing II. Interested in getting involved? Please email TBG’s Artistic Associate, Elizabeth Bennett.

The Development Wing serves as a bridge between our school and producing theatre company, and acts as a funnel for the creation of new work. Playwriting students’ may elect to present their work in our Works-in-progress evenings (student actors perform in these scenes) . Our Literary Manager and Artistic Associate may then choose material from the Works-in-progress nights (they may also find work independent of the Works-in-progress nights) to be presented in our Studio Reading Series, which has a short rehearsal period with our student actors and directors, and is open to the public. Finally, a work that is under consideration for a MainStage production may be given a MainStage Reading, which has an even longer rehearsal process with our student actors and directors, and is also open to the public.

The Barrow Group is also committed to the development of new work for women, and accomplishes this through F.A.B. (“For, About, and By”) WOMEN.

The Barrow Group also offer a 24-hour play festival each year, to give our students and community members another opportunity to create together.
