TEACHER BIO

Instructor: Seth Barrish

Theater Direction: Broadway; Mike Birbiglia's The New One(Cort Theater). Off-Broadway; Thank God for Jokes (Lucille Lortel nomination), All the Rage (Lucille Lortel Award, Outer Critics Circle nomination), My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend, (Lucille Lortel Award, Drama Desk & Outer Critics Circle nominations — final performance at Carnegie Hall), Sleepwalk With Me (Nightlife Award), The Tricky Part (OBIE Award, two Drama Desk nominations), Pentecost (Drama Desk nomination), Old Wicked Songs (Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award & Garland Award), Good (Straw Hat Award), and many more. Television: Co-director of Thank God for Jokes for Netflix; Director of Mike Birbiglia’s My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend for Netflix. Film: Co-director for Sleepwalk With Me. Screenwriting: Co-writer of Sleepwalk With Me. Playwriting: Co-adaptor of Enemy Of The People (an adaptation of Ibsen’s An Enemy of the People) Producing: Consulting Producer for Don’t Think Twice; Co-Producer for Sleepwalk With Me Live. Theater; worked with Berkeley Rep, New York Theater Workshop, The Long Wharf, The McCarter, The Geffen Playhouse, The Intiman, Sundance Theatre Lab, The Promenade, The Signature Theater, Asolo Center for the Performing Arts, San Jose Rep, The La Jolla Playhouse, Two River Theater, Playhouse 91, La Mama e.t.c., The Perry Street Theatre, Provincetown Rep, and The Barrow Group. A professional acting and directing teacher, Seth recently served as a Master Teacher at the International Director’s Symposium in Spoleto, Italy, and is author of the book An Actor’s Companion–Tools for the Working Actor, published by TCG.  As an actor, Seth appears regularly in film and on television.

Instructor: Lee Brock

Lee Brock is Co-Artistic Director of The Barrow Group, a multi-award-winning theater company where she has overseen, developed and/or produced over 150 projects. Highlights include: On the Wing, Blue Window, Serenading Louie, Three Sisters, Good, Old Wicked Songs, Trust, God’s Country, Lonely Planet, Tales from Hollywood, Ghost in the Machine, Greetings, Walking the Blond, K2, Split, Off the Map, Stop Kiss, Last Train to Nibroc, Sonnets for an Old Century, Release, Pentecost, Birth Story, Gray Area, The Tricky Part, All the Rage, Enemy of the People. Directing Credits include: Uncle Vanya, The Timekeepers, Orange Flower Water, Art, Save Me, The Pavilion, Abigail’s Party. In 2009 Ms. Brock created FAB (For, About and By Women) a development company dedicated to creating projects for women. This company serves over 100 artists. One of Ms. Brock’s personal missions is to help artists create their own projects. She has acted at The Kennedy Center, Manhattan Theater Club, The Lucille Lortel, Playhouse 91, La Mama e.t.c, and other theaters around the country. Her television appearances include leading roles in Orange is the New Black, Law and Order, Law and Order SVU, and Law and Order Criminal Intent. Lee teaches classes with The Barrow Group. Thousands of students from all over the world have studied with her in the last 30 years. She’s most proud of her two favorite productions, her children, Phillip and Rachel.

Instructor: Alyson Schacherer

Alyson Schacherer's tv and film credits include: WE ONLY KNOW SO MUCH, 13 REASONS WHY, THE KNICK, DAMAGES.  She's starred in numerous short films, including award-winning VIDEO and been onstage at The Barrow Group in: SAVE ME by Stefanie Zadravec; and THE OFFICE, SWEET PERFUME, POWER FAILURE and THE GOLDILOCKS EFFECT her one woman show, all with FAB Women.  Directing credits include: THE PAVILION (with Lee Brock), DYING CITY, GRUESOME PLAYGROUND INJURIES, and SCOREFEST (also at Disney’s REDCAT).

If you need to cancel a class for any reason, you must notify us by email at least one week before the class begins, and we will apply a credit to your account for a future class.
As our faculty are all working professional actors, directors and playwrights, we reserve the right to change teachers at any time.
Commitment is for the duration of the session. THERE ARE NO CREDITS OR REFUNDS FOR MISSED CLASSES. If you discontinue any class before the ending date of the session, you forfeit your fee.
