TEACHER BIO

Arlene Hutton is an alumna of New Dramatists, member of Ensemble Studio Theatre and the National Theatre Conference and serves on the faculty of the Sewanee School of Letters. Recent honors include a 2016 NYFA Fellowship, a Sloan commission and award-winning revivals in LA and Chicago. Best known as the author of Last Train to Nibroc (NY Drama League Best Play nomination), Hutton’s regional credits include Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, B Street Theatre, Kitchen Theatre, Echo Theatre, Florida Studio Theatre, Chester Theatre and Rubicon Theatre. A three-time winner of the Samuel French Short Play Festival and a seven-time finalist for the Actors Theatre of Louisville Ten-Minute Play Contest, Hutton’s plays, including I Dream Before I Take the Stand and Letters to Sala have been produced at regional theatres and colleges, in London, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, for FringeNYC, and at theatres in NYC and abroad. Hutton has been a respondent for plays for KC/ACTF and has taught writing workshops around the country, including six times at the Last Frontier Theatre Conference. Her students at The Barrow Group have received productions and awards and gone on to MFA playwright programs. Hutton’s plays appear in textbook and best play anthologies and are published by Samuel French, Playscripts and Dramatists Play Service.

If you need to cancel a class for any reason, you must notify us by email at least one week before the class begins, and we will apply a credit to your account for a future class.
As our faculty are all working professional actors, directors and playwrights, we reserve the right to change teachers at any time.
Commitment is for the duration of the session. THERE ARE NO CREDITS OR REFUNDS FOR MISSED CLASSES. If you discontinue any class before the ending date of the session, you forfeit your fee.
